The salt path
|
An urban stroll in the «good air» of the
Alps. From the top down, the visit of Leysin allows one to discover three stratified worlds. First, the silent and monumental universe of the ancient sanatoria which made the reputation of the resort around 1900 when tubercular patients from all over Europe came there to be looked after; then, the little urban centre with its shops, its chapels, its villas and its hotels; finally, the old village with its wooden chalets grouped around the medieval church. Three architectural sequences that this itinerary attentively explorer. Dave Lüthi : Doctor in the history of architecture. Works for an independent office and as research assistant at the University of Lausanne. He studies in particular the domestic and village architectures of the 19th and 20th centuries. Bruno Corthésy : Independent historian. He works in the domain of historical monuments and architectural inventories. |
